FIFA 22 has been out for 20 days as of writing this, and while most reviews have been positive, the game does have its fair share of problems to iron out. Luckily, EA Sports is always on their toes when it comes to one of their largest franchise, and they will be soon releasing a new patch to improve player experience.
EA Sports has gone ahead and outlined the next big patch coming to FIFA 22, highlighting a handful of changes coming to the gameplay, specifically with regards to the AI. The update aims to reduce the effectiveness of the AI-controlled players blocking lobbed passes and crosses.
The change to AI is a significant improvement and a welcome change. Before the patch, AI-controlled players could stretch a little too far to block lobbed passes and crosses. When that happens enough times in a match, the game can start to feel frustrating very quickly.
Keeping in line with the AI changes, CPU AI teams are now more likely to commit fouls during matches played on the semi-pro difficulty and higher. If you were to take the situation before this patch, CPU players could commit very obvious fouls and would receive no form of punishment.
These specific AI changes will be very well received by players who enjoy Ultimate Team’s Squad Battles. This player vs. CPU mode involves a set number of games that can help you earn rewards each week. Reducing the AI’s abilities and effectiveness should help to make this mode a little less tedious.
The patch is bringing several changes to the gameplay, but some non-gameplay-related improvements are also present. On PC, the patch has addressed some instances of visual stuttering that happen after performing skill moves during a match.
The patch, however, does not seem to address the reduced visual fidelity some FIFA 22 players have been experiencing on the Xbox Series S. The issue is still under investigation, as is stated on the FIFA 22 Trello board.
FIFA 22 Title Update #2 will be released soon for PC via Origin and Steam and the Stadia version as well, with the console version coming soon after.
