Gran Turismo 7’s File Size is Out; Will Consume a Huge Chunk of Space

With Gran Turismo 7 about to release in over a month’s time, Polyphony Digital is clearing the clouds of uncertainty surrounding this racing sequel by revealing its storage requirement and pre-load date.

Since Gran Turismo 7 is looking to push the console to its limits with real-time ray tracing, 3D spacial audio, 4K resolution, 60 fps, and HDR support, enthusiasts will unsurprisingly have to clear tons of disk space to get a taste of it.

As revealed by PlayStation Direct, the official preorder page, Gran Turismo 7 will demand 110GB of storage space at the very least on both the PS4 and PS5.

To break this number further, PlayStation Game Size on Twitter notes that the PS5 version of the game will require 89.445GB of storage before the weight of the Day One patch is applied.

When the patch is exerted at launch, Gran Turismo 7’s download size will become more demanding and will consume a hefty chunk of your console (110GB, to be specific).

For a console that packs minimal storage options, it’s becoming increasingly disappointing to see games using tons of SSD space. But then again, this is the sad reality of things, and we can’t complain.

We cannot debate the hefty storage requirement if things are actually being revolutionized. Given that  GT7 claims to feature “over 420 car models with the highest quality ever and have “over 90 tracks with realistic weather and realistic scenery,” it certainly looks to be on the path that takes immersion to the next level.

For now, gamers will have to find comfort in knowing that the pre-load date for Gran Turismo 7 has been out as well.

Gran Turismo 7 will begin pre-loading on February 25th, a week before the game’s release date. For the unaware, pre-loading lets you install a game’s file on your system before it releases.

This way, you won’t have to wait for Gran Turismo 7 to download on your console on the day of its launch, and you can play it without any delay since the game files are already downloaded.
