Where to find the Egbert short sword? – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Out of the many latest additions to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Siege of Paris DLC, the most interesting one is Eivor’s ability to search and use short swords.

The short swords are one-handed swords with unique skill sets. And, unlike the two-handed sword, you can pair them with shields and other weapons without the aid from the Heavy Dual Wield skill of Eivor’s skill tree.

In Francia, one of the first swords players are likely to come across is the Ulfberht sword, also called the Egbert. Reportedly, it has the ability to rival two-handed swords.

However, obtaining it requires a great deal of effort and a bit of navigation.

The Norse man in the ruins of Bilhaut possesses the Ulfberht sword, Egbert. A treasure map found in Fort Pruvinis of the Melunois region of Francia will lead you to the sword.

4 Ways to Find the Ulfberht sword in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Siege of Paris DLC

You can find the Ulfberht short sword through the following ways:

I. Venture to the Fort of Pruvinis

Fort Pruvinis Location

Fort Pruvinis is to the northeast of Melunois. You can find it on the map by looking for a cluster of wealth and mysteries.

Due to lower enemy density, you should approach the fort from the south wall. Kill the guards and progress to the closest tower to find Gedriht, a mighty soldier holding the key to the fort’s gear wealth.

II. Grab the Map

After exiting the tower and landing onto a rope, utilize Odin’s sight to look for a blue-colored glowing map kept on a table in a nearby tent. This map will lead you to the Ulfberht sword.

Then, deal with the nearby enemies and decipher the map to learn the precise location of the sword.

III. Head to the Bilhaut Ruins

Although inaccurate, thieves have drawn the pathway to their camps on the treasure map found in the fort. Additionally, it also contains a description that reads:

Ulfberht Sword, military camp. Take and return. If separated, meet back at hideout north of Pruvinis. Map on the back.

The treasure map is an approximate replica of the player’s world map, hence, progress to the ruins of Bilhaut, situated to the east of the bridge crossing the river.

IV. The Last Thief

On arrival at the thieves’ camp, you’ll notice a bunch of dead bodies lying around. When you head past them, you’ll get introduced to the last surviving thief, the Norse man.

Note: It’s advisable to save your progress here before moving forward.

As you interact with him, you’ll realize that he killed his partners to keep the sword for himself. But, Eivor is a formidable warrior. As a result, the last thief will initiate a negotiation.

To obtain the Ulfberht short sword from the last thief in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, players need to choose from the following dialogue options:

I. “Give me the sword, or else.”

Players can persuade him to cede the Ulfberht sword if they have a charisma level of two or above. Moreover, you can raise the charisma level by completing flyting matches.

II. “I’ll buy the sword.”

Also, players can choose a non-violent approach to the negotiation by buying the Ulfberht sword from the thief in exchange for 3000 silvers.

You can farm silver in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla by killing fish, betting on the three mini-games, etc.

III. “I’ll fight you for the sword.”

This particular choice will cause a fight against a moderately powerful opponent, the last thief. Once you kill him, you can loot him to claim the Ulfberht short sword, Egbert.

Ulfberht Short Sword

The Egbert is a legendary Ulfberht short sword, crafted solely for the purpose of being brawnier and handier than the other large swords. In 886, a Viking Jarlskona found the weapon while helping Sigfred take over Paris.

Note: Jarlskona is the feminine form of a Jarl, meaning man of noble birth.

It deals stun damage to opponents after every hit. And, in maximum effect, it can deal 25 additional points of stun damage by piling the hits up to 10x. To add on, the Ulfberht short sword initializes with flawless quality.

Thus, if used intelligently, it’s a potent option for players wanting to try a one-handed sword.
