Fortnite Ranked Play Mode Has Been Officially Announced by Epic Games

Fortnite has been teasing a Ranked Play Mode coming to the game on Twitter. On May 12, they officially teased the game mode on Twitter by posting a little teaser with the caption, “A new way to grab the Victory Royale is coming… Will you rise through the ranks?”.

It didn’t take fans of the game long enough to realize what the post was teasing. Players were visibly excited about the announcement teaser as the addition of a Ranked Play Mode meant the addition of the first dedicated competitive mode in Fortnite history.

Fortnite has now officially announced Ranked Play coming to Battle Royale and Zero Build in V24.40. The Ranks will consist of 8 tiers – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite, Champion, and Unreal. The Ranked Season will begin with Ranked Season Zero when V24.40 drops.

More information regarding how Ranked Play will work has also been revealed in the article linked in the tweet above. The article provides some important information like how players’ ranks will not be affected after they reach Unreal tier, regardless of their performance, and they’ll also gain a place on the Unreal leaderboard.

V24.40 is not only bringing Ranked Play Mode, but also bringing more changes to balance the game and more bug fixes too. They will be listed below:

MORE COMING IN V24.40: BALANCE CHANGES

As mentioned above, they’ll be making the following balance changes in v24.40:

  • Material caps will be decreased from 999 to 500.
  • Harvesting rates will be slightly increased.
  • Players will drop 50 of each material when they are eliminated.

Also, in case you missed it, they have made the following balance changes in a hotfix on May 3 ET:

  • Increased the damage of the Lock-On Pistol and Thunder Spears.
  • Increased the Locked-On Pistol’s lock-on speed and fire rate between bursts.
  • Thunder Spears now explode faster after pulling the fuse.
  • The Forecast Reality Augment has been vaulted in tournaments.

MAJOR BUG FIXES COMING IN V24.40

  • Fixing an issue preventing players from being healed with Slurp Juice after being DBNO.
  • Back Blings equipped with the Clone Trooper Outfit will no longer appear detached.
  • The Clone Trooper Outfit’s head movement will no longer be static.
  • Fixing an issue causing some Outfits to appear glossy
