Forza Horizon 5’s New Hotfix Brings Online Improvements & Fixes

Forza Horizon 5 is one of the year’s biggest releases and has been steadily growing a dedicated player base. The open-world racing game from Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios had the biggest launch in all of Xbox history.

But this doesn’t mean it’s a perfect game, with players reporting several problems when playing online. The developers have been continually working on these issues, and the latest hotfix is now available to all players.

The December 14th, 2021 hotfix update is relatively minor in the grand scheme, but it includes many essential fixes targeting areas players have repeatedly mentioned. These include online matchmaking, convoys, and traffic cars. Improvements to stability and crashes, which got worse after the December 3rd, 2021 update, have also been included. The December 7th, 2021 patch fixed the critical flaw in that system, and the new patch looks to resolve even more.

The new hotfix is now available for all Forza Horizon 5 players across Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC. The update came to ~850MB on the Xbox Series X, but this size may vary depending on your platform. If you have been experiencing issues playing Forza Horizon 5 online, it is recommended to apply this update as soon as possible.

Playground Games has been very forthcoming with their acknowledgments of issues, including the several problems players have in completing the Festival Playlist challenges and objectives through the in-game Messages Center. They have stated they are working on a solution for the players affected. They have not gone into details of the fix, but it is good to know something is in the works.
