The next Forza game will most likely be set in Mexico, according to some sources in the industry. What started as just a vague hint which could have been written off as just a rumor, now has a confirmation from VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb.
The previous installment in the series – Forza Horizon 4, released in 2018 – was based in the United Kingdom. Ever since, fans of the series have been eagerly anticipating and speculating where the next game will be based, with many betting on (and hoping for) Japan. But, after a series of tweets and comments from Grubb and Windows Central’s Jez Corden in the previous week, it seems the series is coming to North America instead.
Last week, Jez Corden tweeted, “I really want to visit Mexico some day,” to which Grubb replied by saying he was practicing Spanish on Duolingo. He also added a phrase in Spanish, “El coche va vroom” which translates to “the car goes vroom.” All of this, when taken together, definitely hints that Mexico could be the destination of the next Forza Horizon. But, nothing has been confirmed or denied by either party or the developers and publishers either.
Grubb has also solidified the rumor with some comments he made during his appearance on the Iron Lords podcast on May 2nd. About his tweets, Grubb said, “Let’s start with Forza and the Mexican flag, I wonder what that means.”
He further went on to say,
The rumour was always Japan, right? I got some fake screenshots a long time ago that I never shared, that were in Japan, and I was like, ‘that’s not real.’ It turned out that wasn’t real.Jeff Grubb, GamesBeat Editor, VentureBeats
Grubb then said that he has decided to ease up on all the rumors, stating that “we’ll find out when we find out”. But, taking into account Corden’s tweet last week, Grubb confidently replied, “So yeah, it’s in Mexico.”
While Grubb has been very confident with his replies, we still don’t have any confirmation regarding this news by Microsoft, the publishers, or Playground Games, the developers. So, we really are only going to find out when we find out, it seems.
