Texture and Graphical Issues Reported by Forza Horizon 5 PC Players

Forza Horizon 5 is arguably one of the best-looking games in the market right now. It has recreated the biome of Mexico in stunning detail, from sandy deserts to lush forests and rocky crags. The ray-tracing functionality helps to make everything look super polished and sleek. Unfortunately, not all PC players have been able to enjoy Forza Horizon 5’s striking visuals.

There are currently multiple posts on the game’s subreddit complaining about grainy graphics, texture popping, and other graphical issues.

One post reads, “I have a mid-range gaming pc with a 1660 ti and an i5 9500 CPU; the game auto set my graphics to high, which I thought maybe a good sign. however, when I loaded in, everything seemed pixilated [sic], my car, the environment, other cars, spectators.”

Many would pin this issue on the user needing a better system; however, another comment said they have an RTX 3060 and are also experiencing “dog shit” graphics. It seems environment textures don’t fully load in until you are just a few meters away, and the foliage looks reminiscent of an Xbox 360 game. This is happening even with systems that fall well within the game’s “Recommended” specifications.

Playing around with the various graphical options in the game does yield some changes, but it is never an ideal situation. You may get better textures, but it may require you to switch off ray tracing or to reduce your graphic setting to a lower tier.

The comments on the posts seem hopeful that Playground Games will release a fix for this soon.

Unfortunately, they may be waiting a while as this fix does not appear to be on the list. The latest tweet from the Forza Support handle only speaks about a postponed hotfix for PC crashing, wheel, and connection issues. There is no mention of this problem on the ‘Known Issues’ page either, so it seems Playground is yet to acknowledge this occurrence.

It’s surprising this hasn’t been added to Playground’s radar, given the number of complaints about this issue. The Xbox Series X|S consoles are the focus for Playground, but Microsoft constantly reminds its PC audiences that they are thought of as well. The lack of movement on this issue shows otherwise.
