Forza Horizon 5’s Unbeatable Drivatars Really Are Unbeatable!

It’s been a week since the release of Forza Horizon 5, giving players the time needed to get acquainted with the game’s various mechanics and features. Many players have already reached the endgame, reaching the Hall of Fame only to find some very challenging objectives to complete. The feature getting the most attention off-late is Forza’s Drivatars and their difficulty range.

The Drivatars can be bumped up to Unbeatable difficulty, and they appear to be living up to the name. The community has been discussing the matter, and most of the feedback has been highly critical. Forza Horizon 5 “cheats” with the AI to provide scaling difficulty options like practically every racing game.

But ‘Unbeateable’ is different. This difficulty doesn’t just outrace players. These Drivatars have technical advantages and limitations that are outside of the scope players have to deal with. This has made many players frustrated by the unfair advantage of the game’s AI.

The confusing part of this situation is that no one is aware of how the Unbeatable Drivatars are “cheating”. Players can only make guesses based on the AI’s in-game behavior. Redditor ZonerRoamer on the Forza Horizon subreddit described the AI’s behavior as “like robots,” saying that they drive a “perfect racing line without losing speed whatsoever in turns.”

Another commenter explains that “on straight runs, they zip past me like they have a rocket strapped onto them and in the corners just zip on the inside as if they were on rails.” Other comments state that it is not the issue’s difficulty; instead, the AI feels “random” and “woefully inconsistent” in difficulty between individual races and race types.

It seems undeniable that the Unbeatable AI in Forza Horizon 5 is playing the game way better than any human ever could. Launches are consistently faster than what players can do, the grip on turns is perfect, and despite it being advertised that Drivatars would have unique personality traits that would affect their racing behavior, all of them cling to the “ideal” racing line.

Players have found some ways to combat the Unbeatable AI. Ramming the cars during turns is especially effective, as is finding ways to maintain speeds through corners and turns, as that can be the deciding factor of the race. It’s a good idea to avoid certain race types altogether against Unbeatable AI, like Cross Country, Street Racing, and Road Racing.

Since Forza Horizon 5 is such a recent release, most players are still getting a handle on the game. However, if some serious issues are found with the Unbeatable AI, we expect Playground Games will release a patch for it soon.
