The leakers got it partly right – Mihoyo unveiled Update 2.0 for Genshin Impact earlier today. However, the follow-up to Update 1.6 was announced through a press release and not a Livestream.
The highly-anticipated Update 2.0 is titled “The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia” and will take players to the brand new Inazuma region.
Inazuma lies across the ocean from the main playable area and is ruled over by Electro Archon. Additionally, the region consists of six islands home to entirely different cultures, creatures, and mysteries.
Throughout their travels across Inazuma, players will get to explore these unique cultural landscapes, stories, secrets.
They will also unearth their historical connections to Inazuma and find answers to Electro Archon’s goal – which is the pursuit of eternity.
Version 2.0 will also introduce three new playable characters: Kamisato Ayaka, daughter of the Yashiro Commission’s Kamisato Clan, Yoimiya, a Pyro archer and an expert in fireworks, and Sayu, a new four-star ninja character who wields an Anemo Vision and a giant claymore bigger than herself.
While all the new content coming to the game is a plus, the highlight of Version 2.0 is the Cross-save feature which will finally arrive for PS5, PS4, PC, Android, and iOS.
Once players have Version 2.0 installed, they will have the ability to switch between mobile and console/PC seamlessly.
Genshin Impact on PS5 will also receive a range of upgrades. While versions on all platforms will receive improved character shading and feature optimizations, PS5 players will get to enjoy DualSense haptic feedback support, along with a smooth 60fps at 4K output.
On the previous-gen PS4, the game runs at 30fps and tends to suffer from slow loading times and improper rendering. So visual improvements should be a welcome addition for many.
Version 2.0 update for Genshin Impact will begin rolling out on July 21.
