Horizon Zero Dawn & God of War Now Officially Verified for Steam Deck

The Steam Deck is the next handheld console people are waiting for with bated breath, and Valve appears to be verifying as many games in its catalog as possible for the system. When a game is verified, it means the Steam Deck will be able to run it without a hitch. The latest games to join this list are God of War 2018 and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Both PlayStation Studio games, with God of War releasing just last month, are stellar experiences that Steam Deck owners will be able to enjoy on the go. This information comes from the Steam DB God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn pages.

The titles will provide players with a complete configuration of buttons, will be able to use the essential functions of the portable console, and text readability should not be an issue. It is particularly impressive that the Steam Deck will run God of War, a game that has been applauded for its fluid action, vast landscapes, and detailed surroundings.

The two PlayStation Studio titles join a long list of games that have been verified for the Steam Deck in the past year. That list will only keep getting longer as we get closer to the launch of the handheld system. The Steam Deck has also been verified to have full mod support, allowing you to make changes to your favorite games as and when you please.

Some Steam Deck units have already been shipped and are in the hands of developers. This is a great way to ensure that games start rolling out with system compatibility at the earliest. Considering the handheld will be able to access the massive Steam games catalog, there is a lot there that still needs to be verified for compatibility.

However, Valve has stated they are yet to find a game that the Steam Deck is unable to handle.

How well these two PlayStation games will run on Valve’s handheld remains to be seen, but we won’t have to wait long as the Steam Deck is set for release on February 25th
