Sony’s magnum opus, God of War Ragnarok, received a new update 4.00, adding the much-anticipated New Game + which enhances the replayability of the game. The update is available now on PS4 and PS5 consoles.

God of War Ragnarok’s update 4.00 adds New Game+ to the game along with new armor sets, new armor appearances for existing armors, increased level cap, extended sparring arena in Niflheim, increased difficulty for bosses as well as new Enchantments and more.

1. New Game Plus

The biggest addition in God of War Ragnarok’s update 4.00 is the addition of New Game+. This means that you can start a new game with all of your weapons, Enchantments, weapon upgrades and in-game currencies. All of it will be available from the get-go.

New Game+ adds a ton of replayability to the game as you get access to all of your weapons and upgrades as well as new enchantments and shields from the beginning of the game itself.

2. New Armor Sets

God of War Ragnarok’s newest update brings forth armor sets from its predecessor, God of War (2018), as well as new armor sets to make every playthrough unique. Rest assured, your journey through the Nine Realms will be a stylish one.

Along with new armor sets, existing armor sets have also received new visuals and updates which expands the option of customization even more. A brand-new shield, The Spartan Aspis, which was available in the previous game, has now been added to the game as well.

3. Expanded Niflheim Sparring Arena

The Sparring Arena in Niflheim has been expanded in the latest update for God of War Ragnarok. Players can now choose to play with Kratos or Atreus and choose any of the following companions: Freya, Brok, Sindri, Angrboda, Ingrid, Thor, and Thrúd.

The update adds new selection of enemies to slash through as well. This encourages players to be more creative with the combat system in God of War Ragnarok with access to new companions and different variety of enemies.

4. New Enchantments

The update brings the addition of new Enchantments in God of War Ragnarok. Now you can purchase even more powerful Enchantments from the Huldra Brothers shop and attach it to your Amulet to get creative while in combat.

Here’s a list of new Enchantments which have been added to the game:

I. Gilded Coins – Engraving and Badge Enchantments: These are powerful and versatile Enchantments from Armor (Engravings) and Shield Rönds (Badges), which can be equipped with your Amulet.

II. Burdens: Burdens are a new set of Enchantments that will allow you to equip negative Perks for a tailor-made challenge.

III. Berserker Soul Drops: These Enchantments give select stat boosts to specific stats. They can be obtained by defeating Berserkers on NG+.

5. New Progression Paths

According to PlayStation, the following new progression paths have been added to God of Waf Ragnarok in update 4.00:

New Skill Mod Plus: Upgrade your existing Skill Mod tokens using XP to further enhance the effects of your favorite Mods.

Platinum Tier Labors: Carry over any progress from your Kill Labors or Ratatasks and continue to unlock a new Platinum Tier of rewards.

Additional Stat Gains: Nornir Chests will now provide Yggdrasil Dew to allow players to push Stats far beyond their previous limits.

6. Endgame Bosses and More

The latest update 4.00 increases the difficulty of all endgame bosses in God of War Ragnarok. The bosses now possess new abilities and contain new tricks up their sleeves, in order to ensure a tough challenge for Kratos.

Other enemy adjustments include The Hateful and the Ormstunga having new abilities, all bosses and mini bosses having Runic Armor, enemies turning into elite enemies in Give Me No Mercy and Give Me God of War difficulties.

Black and White Render Mode – God Of War Ragnarok

On top of all the updates, a brand new Black and White Render Mode has now been added to God of War Ragnarok in order to make the game feel more cinematic, similar to Ghost of Tsushima’s Kurosawa Mode.
