Customization, Racing and More Revealed in Gran Turismo 7 Trailer

Sony had a lot to show during the recent PlayStation Showcase event, the highlights being Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, God of War: Ragnarok, and Gran Turismo 7. This was the first footage racing fans had seen of Gran Turismo 7 ever since the initial reveal trailer from June last year.

Sony confirmed last week that whoever purchases the PS4 variant of Gran Turismo 7 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for a fee of $10. This came after Sony received widespread backlash, which forced the company to give the PS5 upgrade for Horizon Forbidden West for free to whoever purchased the PS4 version of the game.

Fans now have a gameplay trailer which should give them a good understanding if buying Gran Turismo 7 would be a good idea.

The trailer shows various shots of cars and their components before revealing what seems to be an extensive and robust customization feature. It then showed the many different features that will be present in the GT7 photo mode and provided a look at the game’s menus.

The last leg of the trailer focused on racing on various tracks, all of which looked very impressive and highly detailed.

While the visuals were extremely impressive, the trailer’s highlight was showing off the in-depth car customization system that will be a significant part of GT7. The trailer was a great blend of showing what to expect visually and gameplay-wise, and it seems that Polyphony Digital is making good use of the extra time it has on hand since GT7 was delayed to 2022.

Sony also confirmed that the game would be targeting 4K 60fps and support HDR as well as ray tracing, so it is bound to be a technical benchmark for the PS5 when it does launch.

Gran Turismo 7 joins Horizon Forbidden West as the first few big releases for Sony in 2022. Other games coming out around the same time, not necessarily from Sony, are Elden Ring, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, Rainbow Six Extraction, and Saints Row.

Gran Turismo 7 is slated for launch on March 4th, 2022, for the PS4 and PS5.
