Grand Theft Auto 5 to Leave Xbox Game Pass Soon

Rockstar Games’ urban open-world epic GTA 5 is on the way out from Xbox Games Pass for a second time. The title has been on the popular Microsoft subscription service since April 2021 and will exit it by the end of this month.

GTA 5 was first released in 2013 and has remained an extremely popular title, primarily thanks to its multiplayer component GTA Online.

The game is scheduled to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S later this year. The new-gen reissue is probably why GTA 5 is leaving Game Pass, as players would otherwise have free access to the Series X|S versions too.

As of the time of writing, there is no formal announcement from Xbox or Rockstar on this exit.

Instead, it has simply appeared in the Game Pass’ “Leaving Soon” tab, and the sad date of farewell is indicated by the line above the game that states, “These games exit the Xbox Game Pass library in the next two weeks.”

However, it seems only the console version of the GTA 5 is leaving Game Pass. The ‘Leaving Soon’ tab for PC Games does not list GTA 5, so PC players could still enjoy the game for free until Microsoft decides to change that.

If you still wish to continue playing the game on your Xbox One, you can get it at a discounted price of $14.99 (from $29.99), thanks to the Xbox Summer Sale.

As mentioned earlier, this is not the second time that GTA 5 is leaving Game Pass. The game first debuted on the service in January 2020, giving players access to the Diamond Resort and Casino DLC, which were recent releases at the time.

The game remained on Game Pass until May 2020 and then returned in April 2021. So, it’s very plausible that the game will find its way back to the service once again.

Rockstar recently dropped the Los Santos Turners DLC for GTA Online. It adds new cars, customization options, and a ton of new missions for players to undertake.

What’s more, Rockstar is also giving free in-game money to anyone who logs in this week, so if you haven’t played GTA Online in a while, now would be a perfect time to resume.
