Halo Infinite Co-Op Won’t Get Online Matchmaking Even After the Mode Leaves Beta

Halo Infinite’s beta testing started recently and has mostly kept fans immersed in the game. Co-op is the highlight of the beta, among other exciting things like the forge mode. Fans have been waiting for the addition of co-op to the game since its launch, however, there is one big hiccup.

The co-op lets you play the Halo Infinite campaign alongside other human players. But actually finding other human players won’t be as easy as it could be because it inexplicably lacks online matchmaking. Till now, it was assumed that this would be limited to the beta, and the actual update will change this.

Unfortunately, as per the statement by Xbox representatives to GamesRadar, online matchmaking won’t be featured even when the mode leaves beta.

Online matchmaking will not be available with final co-op

We encourage you to continue to use the Halo LFG and the new Discord voice call feature on Xbox to find players to party up with as you continue playing the beta.

Xbox consoles recently got Discord integration, though it’s somewhat unintuitive to set up. Previously, connecting your Xbox and Discord accounts just let the latter display your game activity and Gamertag, but as of July 20, Xbox Insiders can transfer voice calls from Discord to their Xbox Series X or Xbox One via the platform’s mobile app.

The feature is currently limited to insider testing, but a broader release is planned for later this year. However, jumping into a Discord channel, or browsing a Halo LFG (looking for group) website, is obviously not as easy as automatically teaming up with strangers.

Discord could make communicating easier, assuming both parties already use Discord and are on the same Halo server. But unless you already have a group that plays Halo Infinite, finding a group to play with is not worth the hassle right now.

Halo Infinite beta testing will be open until August 1. The official update will also arrive sometime in August.
