Halo Infinite to Support Cross-Gen Progression and Ultra Wide Monitors!

Halo Infinite is launching on PC later this year. It’s going to have several heavily requested features: cross-play with Xbox consoles, cross-progression, triple keybinds, and support for both ultra-wide and super ultra-wide monitors.

This is all according to a new blog post by Microsoft. With the company being pretty platform-agnostic and service-oriented these days, it’s a little surprising that they are putting in a lot of work into to the PC version. A post on Halo Waypoint gives even more details: field of vision is going to go up to 120, competitive modes will sort players by input type, and there will be no kernel-level anti-cheat.

If you were to walk the (virtual) halls at Xbox today, I think you’d find that to us, the idea of the “player” has come to mean someone who plays many kinds of games on many different devices.

PC gaming is part of this; “player first” has to apply for PC, as well, and to that end we’ve been making investments across the PC gaming ecosystem to ensure that PC is a key part of how people can play games.

The blog also promises PC users more titles in the future vein of Age of Empires and Gears Tactics – games that are more traditional keyboard-mouse titles. The blog post goes on to say, “Whether they are new genres for established franchises, the next iteration of a classic favorite or the evolution of a storied PC brand,” while being careful not to reveal anything new.

The PC-oriented features coming to Infinite are great news, especially the support for ultra-wide and super ultra-wide screens. The additional features are sure to be appreciated by those who don’t have such large screens, meaning there is something for every PC gamer here!
