343 Industries is Working on Halo Infinite’s Slow Battle Pass Progression

While it is still super early to draw a conclusion, it seems Halo Infinite’s free-to-play multiplayer mode is a hit with fans, despite the lack of battle pass that is giving its own set of problems. The Pass has been criticized by a large number of Infinite players so far for super slow progression. The reason for this is that instead of giving you XP at the end of a match, you only get it for completing battle pass challenges.

Thankfully, it seems 343 Industries is aware of this issue as Community Manager Brian Jarrad took to Twitter to acknowledge the criticisms.

We’re hopeful that 343 Industries will release some slight adjustments to the system soon. A live-service game having a massive bug that goes unaddressed is a bad look, even if you’re a franchise as established as Halo

The progression criteria for the Battle Pass made it so that players would sometimes go through consecutive matches earning little to no XP. This makes progression feel like a grind and takes away from the fun of the game. It’s not exactly the best feeling when you constantly keep thinking of an objective you have to finish while also trying to enjoy a game you’ve been eagerly anticipating.

Add to the fact that many said that quite a few of the challenges are challenging while others require you to play specific game modes, and you’ve got what feels like a chore more than a game.

Thankfully, the gameplay itself is solid and seems to be a return to form of competitive Halo games. Many have praised the studios for getting a lot right, including what makes Halo truly ‘Halo’. The game has been able to pay homage to Bungie’s greatest franchise while also including the many advancements that have occurred in shooters over the past ten years.
