These Are the First Games to Support AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution

Gaming technology has come a long way, and it was only a matter of time before AI tools were used to make what we play even better. NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) tech does just this to boost a game’s visuals without the need for top-of-the-line hardware. AMD was lagging in this regard but has since announced a would-be competitor labeled FidelityFX Super Resolution.

This tech functions similarly to DLSS, where AI runs visuals through an algorithm to create more true-to-life colors and textures. This is all done through software, so gamers don’t need to have the latest graphics card powering their systems.

Courtesy of a leak discovered by VideoCardz, we now have a list of games that will support AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technology. Seven of these games will have FSR support from launch, while twelve will be supported soon after, though we have not been given an exact timeline.

  2. Anno 1800
  3. Evil Genius 2

Given that both, the list of games and developers, have been sourced from a leak, and no official confirmation has been broadcasted, this information should be taken with a grain of salt.

While FidelityFX Super Resolution is being marketed as a competitor to DLSS, it does differ from NVIDIA’s tech in two ways. The first being that it does not use any form of Deep Learning/Machine Learning to work. The second is it does not support motion vector.

AMD has yet to share the source code for FSR with NVIDIA, so GeForce users will have to wait a bit longer for the optimizations to be available once the tech is launched, which is scheduled for June 22nd.
