Here’s How to Fix the Infinite Update Bug in Call of Duty: Warzone

Call of Duty: Warzone players on PlayStation and Xbox have fallen prey to a frustrating bug as a result of the game’s March 30 and April 6 updates; the updates were 16 GB at 11 GB respectively.

After players experience a win, they find themselves stuck in an infinite update loop. While the bug had no fix at first, Raven Software has come out with a set of instructions that players can follow to get out of the loop.

As stated above, the problem surfaced after players installed the updates from March and April. Downloading both the updates at the same time triggers an infinite loop where the game tries to download updates infinitely.

Interestingly enough, those who downloaded the March 30 fast prior to this remain unaffected but those who were late to the install the update are now unable to play the game.

Currently, the bug is only affecting console players and is forcing them to reinstall the update(s) multiple times. According to the Raven Software’s Warzone Trello Board, which helps players keep track of bugs, fixes e.t.c., the developers are trying to devise a solution to the problem. But, for now, players can do the following to fix the issue:

  • Step 1 – Let both updates install
  • Step 2 – Launch the game
  • Step 3 – Go to DLC Management screen (R3) from Main menu or via the Settings menu
  • Step 4 –  Install both Campaign Packs, & Special Ops Packs

If players follow the above directions, they should be able to resume playing Warzone despite the bug. If the problem persists, Raven Software has requested that players report back to see how many fans had the bug successfully resolved.

The initial player who reported the problem has confirmed that the fix works. When they launch the game, the downloads still appear but rather than forcing them to wait, they install at once.

So, while Raven Software figures out a more concrete fix, Warzone players can use these tips to get back to their favourite multiplayer shooter.
