Hogwarts Legacy: The Final Repository Quest Answers Explained

You’ve made it right to the end of Hogwarts Legacy after a super thrilling journey! (It’s true, this game is ranking up to be one of the best RPGs of the year, all with the controversy and what not). Throughout the game, you’ve been making choices that determine the narrative outcome for your player.

But the biggest decision will be found in Hogwarts Legacy’s last quest. In fact, the answer you choose will seal the deal on whether your character is a good wizard or an evil one.

The Final Repository is the last quest in Hogwarts Legacy, where players are given two choices which will determine the game’s ending. Choosing “I intend to keep it contained here,” will lead to the good ending, while choosing “I intend to open it,” will lead to the evil ending.

So if you need a guide to the Final Repository Quest answer, head this way!

1.1. “I intend to keep it contained here.” | Good Ending

Choosing the dialogue “I intend to keep it contained here,” will give players the good ending as it indicates that they are not power-hungry and will choose to maintain peace and order.

As soon as you make this choice, there will be one more dialogue where you will have to reaffirm the fact that you want to safeguard the ancient powers, not absorb them. This will guarantee you the good ending.

After this, your battle with Ranrok will ensue. When you struggle to win it initially, Fig will sacrifice himself, which will give you an opening to defeat Ranrok and seal away the ancient magic.

Once this is done, you’ll be taken to the end of game where you’ll go through a series of cut scenes.

1.2. “I intend to open it.” | Evil Ending

Choosing the dialogue “I intend to open it,” will give players the evil ending as it indicates that they want to keep the ancient powers for themselves and might misuse them.

Just like the good ending, there will be an additional dialogue which will ask you to affirm your choices.

You will go through the same battle with Ranrok, but this time Fig’s death won’t be depicted, and it will be quite open-ended. Once again, while you will defeat Ranrok, you will also end up absorbing all the ancient magic and your characters eyes will turn red for a moment.

After this is over, you will enter the epilogue phase of the game.

Once you’ve finished the last quest, you’ll be back at Hogwarts for the game’s epilogue. You’ll get to play out a bunch of different scenarios. Here are the important ones to keep a watch out for:

  • Professor Black and Professor Weasley will honor Professor Fig’s sacrifice in the Great Hall.
  • If previously you chose not to report Sebastian Sallow, you will meet him again and inform him that Victor Rookwood is responsible for cursing his sister, Anne.
  • Your house wins the House Cup thanks to you battling Ranrok.

3. Is there is a “correct” answer?

As of now, the game gives us no hints about whether or not there is a correct answer to this last dilemma. In most RPGs, these decisions simply lead to differing game narratives and experiences but since the story in Hogwarts Legacy is clearly incomplete, it does make you wonder if these actions will affect any sequels.

In my opinion, it will for sure — If you choose to be the good wizard, you might have to defend Hogwarts from a bigger threat (possibly Victor Rookwood) in the future. If you choose to the evil wizard, you might end up becoming the antagonist yourself.

Once again, the disclaimer here is that Hogwarts Legacy simply ends after the goblin fight and there are no clear consequences of the player turning good or evil — only a tease to the possibility.

Keeping this in mind, it’s entirely up to players what type of experiences they want to have and make a choice accordingly.

4. About Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG from Avalanche Studio. The game places the player in the wizarding school of Hogwarts, allowing them to witness the iconic locations as a character other than Harry Potter.

The game has an expansive map that makes the game very immersive, even for people who are yet to read the books or watched the movie.

The mysterious, gripping storyline, with the vast areas to explored, either on foot or broomstick, makes it even more real life.
