Launched last week, Horizon Forbidden West has received praise from critics and players alike. Everyone is impressed with Guerrilla Games’ visual upgrades in the sequel, making it look amazing on both the PS4 and the PS5. Not everything is perfect, though, as there are still some minor bugs to iron out, and Forbidden West got its first patch ever.
Guerrilla Games confirmed they are investigating issues some players have labeled as “high priority.” These include graphical glitches like shimmering, sharpening, and screen saturation when the camera is moved.
Other serious issues have players stuck indefinitely at load screens when loading into melee pits and a problem interacting with a specific machine carcass during a quest, making progress impossible.
The studio has said they are investigating these issues in an update post. Horizon Forbidden West has also received its very first game patch: Patch 1.05.
This update brings a host of fixes for several crashes and issues and adds some improvements. Main quests, side quests, errands, and other world activities have all been improved.
General fixes for the game include image sharpening in HDR mode, settlements streaming in and out, and there are “various performance improvements.” For World Activities, Guerrilla has ensured that a rogue Tallneck near The Sand of the Sentinels that would previously change the direction of its route has now been “disciplined,” as stated by the developer.
The devs noticed something strange about the settlements that might have either seemed odd to players or just made them think the game’s realism could have been improved. NPCs in settlements would stay up all night, gathering in large groups and going about their night as if it was day. The patch update should now have them acting much more in line with the normal circadian rhythm.
We can expect more patches like these to keep coming for Horizon Forbidden West, especially to fix the earlier mentioned issues. For players facing similar or new problems, there is a Support Forum to submit complaints.
