Guerrilla Games has been ramping up marketing efforts to keep hype high for the game. The constant release of new videos and information has teased a lot of PlayStation users enough to want to preorder the title. The game is releasing for both the PS4 and the PS5, but the latter will cost players an extra $10 for the enhanced graphics and performance.
This price jump can be bypassed if players know where to look. Owners of the PlayStation 4 version of Horizon Forbidden West will get the upgrade to the PS5 version at launch, so anyone looking to save a little money needs to just buy the PS4 version of the game. However, this can be a bit of a challenge since the built-in PlayStation 5 store allows players to only purchase the PS5 version.
Using the web browser to access the PlayStation store can remove this restriction. Visiting the preorder page for Horizon Forbidden West, those interested should ignore the top listing and scroll down to see three options, one of which is the standard PS4 version.
Another option is to get the physical copy of the PS4 disc, but this will require the disc to be in the console at all times. This is not a viable route for those with the digital-only version of the console.
Horizon Forbidden West is shaping up to be a stellar release on PS4 and the PS5. But taking advantage of the higher performance and better graphical output of the PlayStation 5 will undoubtedly add more to the experience.
