God of War: Sun Moon Midgard Trap Puzzle in Tyr’s Temple Escape Guide

God of War 2018 has entirely changed the traditional GOW gameplay style. In this latest RPG action-adventure, players have to solve numerous puzzles to progress through the story or save their lives in general. 

Kratos and Atreus encounter one such “Ragnarok puzzle” when they trigger a trap inside Tyr’s temple during the Black Rune story quest. There are Sköll, Hati, Sun, Crescent Moon, and Midgard (Earth) metal plates on the wall, which must be arranged in the proper sequence to save Kratos from drowning. 

How do you solve the sun and moon puzzle in God of War? 

Arrange the metal plates left to right in the following order: Moon, Midgard (Earth), and Sun to solve the puzzle in Tyr’s temple and free Kratos from the trap in God of War 2018. 

When you encounter the puzzle, the order of the metal plates will be Sun, Moon, and Midgard. To get our desired order of Moon, Midgard, and Sun, command Atreus to go: 

• Step 1: Middle  (Shifts all three plates to the very left) 
• Step 2: Left  (Pulls down the Moon) 
• Step 3: Middle  (Shifts the Sun and Midgard to the right) 
• Step 4: Right  (Pulls down the Sun) 
• Step 5: Left  (Pulls up the Moon back) 
• Step 6: Middle  (Shifts Moon and Midgard to the left) 
• Step 7: Right  (Pulls up the Sun back) 

Now, the puzzle will automatically fall into its place.

Atreus clearly explains the puzzle by describing that “Hati, the silver wolf (on the left) chases the moon and Sköll, the golden wolf (on the right) chases the sun, for Ragnarok to happen, they have to devour them,” and so we get the correct order of the puzzle. 

But even after solving the puzzle, Kratos won’t be released from the vines, and the platform will start rising towards the metal spikes on the ceiling. Command Atreus to stick his knife into the chains of the gear to obstruct it and stop the platform from rising.  

With the puzzle solved and Kratos saved, head into the next room to continue your adventures.
