Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island Completion Time Revealed

Sucker Punch has been keeping very busy. After bringing us Ghost of Tsushima: Legends – the completely free multiplayer expansion, the studio is now gearing up to release the very first story expansion to their critically acclaimed 2020 samurai game.

The Iki Island expansion is one of the most anticipated PlayStation releases of 2021. And now, we finally have some information regarding the size and scope of the new content.

The information comes to us from Sucker Punch Staff Writer Patrick Downs, who offered to elaborate a bit on what players can expect from the new campaign in a recent interview with Press Start.

He said that fans should think of Iki Island as similar to Ghost of Tsushima’s Izuhara region regarding size and content. Izuhara is the first island region players explore in the original game and is also the largest amongst the three.

It’ll have that variety and depth of content, and playtime, of course.

While Downs didn’t go into detail about the playtime hours for the expansion, it can be assumed based on typical Ghost of Tsushima trends.

In a casual playthrough, the first region can take over 15 hours to complete. Depending on the degree, thorough playthroughs can take up to 30 hours or more to complete Izuhara.

It’s not just the largest region on the map but also the most densely packed with content. So 15-40 hours for Iki Island sounds like a robust expansion.

An important point to note is that while Izuhara is the largest area on the map, being the first region players explore, it is also the easiest.

Iki Island most likely will not follow this same pattern and will be significantly more difficult as the content is not designed for players who have just started the game. And, given that we have a new enemy to face, the difficulty may be ramped up from even the last region of the base game.

It’s great to hear that we will be getting an expansion that we can really sink our teeth into.

While Sucker Punch could have gone the tried and tested route of just adding more missions or cosmetics, they have decided to deliver a fresh experience and should be commended for the same.

A massive region, cinematic story, and plenty of content for completionists is a great way to show your love for your fans.
