Far Cry 6 Day/Night Cycle: Can you change the in-game time?

Far Cry 6 is full of various missions to take on across its sprawling map. You’ve got the main storyline to complete, treasure hunts to embark on, Amigos to unlock, and so much more, thanks to Yaran stories. With so many missions and sidequests to complete, you want to take advantage of all the factors when sneaking into military bases.

You might need the cover of darkness to give you an edge in a stealth mission or want it to be daytime so you can see what you’re doing. Therefore, time skip is an essential feature for any game, especially with missions that are playable at only certain times.

The previous installments of Far Cry allowed players to change between day and night manually. Hence, you might be wondering if that option exists in Far Cry 6.

1. Can you change the time in Far Cry 6?

Unlike other open-world games, you can’t change the time in Far Cry 6 manually. There is no method of sleeping in or sitting by a campfire to change the time of the day. It takes about 25-30 minutes of real-world time for the night to change into the day, and vice versa.

Even if it doesn’t seem like time is changing altogether in Far Cry 6, try not to worry as the day to night cycle isn’t a steady progression. After waiting for about half an hour, it will suddenly change from day to night or vice versa in the span of two to three minutes.

Far Cry 6 developers have implemented a cycle that follows an in-game clock. But, since the in-game clock is a bit condensed, time changes more frequently.

2. How to pass the time faster in Far Cry 6?

Pass the Time Faster in Far Cry 6

Given that players don’t have the option to change time, their best shot at passing the time in Far Cry 6 comes from trying other missions, going fishing, or playing co-op with a friend. If you’re not in a hurry, you can also go idle, let your character stand safely in the headquarters, and set a timer on your phone for 30 minutes.

Currently, there are no known tricks that can help you pass the time faster in Far Cry 6. Activities like fast-traveling, restarting the game, changing the in-game clock on the console, or reloading the game file have been confirmed not to affect the in-game time.

3. What are the time-specific activities in Far Cry 6?

In some missions, the game will automatically set a specific time, which will last until the operation is successful. Nevertheless, in Far Cry 6, the following time-specific activities are an exception to the above rule:

I. Visiting Fort Oro

The exploration of Fort Oro is related to the side quest Triada Blessing. Since it is a haunted location in Far Cry 6, entry into the fort is only possible during the night. Any attempts to explore the fort during the day will go in vain.

II. Hunt for Sanguinario

Sanguinario, a jaguar who is one of the five mythical animals, appears only at night at the southern end of the El Este region in Far Cry 6. His pelt is of utmost importance to the players as it is required to craft the Primal Pants.

4. How to change the time of day using photo mode in Far Cry 6?

You can change the time of day in Far Cry 6 while using photo mode by regulating the light-related options tab. In the same, you can choose to adjust the weather, contrast, and brightness manually.

The game won’t allow you to change this setting if you’re between a mission with a determined time of day. But, the change in time using the photo mode is temporary and will return to its previous state when you leave it.

5. What are the issues with the day and night cycle in Far Cry 6?

The main issue with the day and night cycle in Far Cry 6 is that sometimes it gets stuck in the middle, and there is no virtual display of the in-game clock to keep track of time. Consequently, it becomes impossible for players to start a night mission until they restart the game.

Another major setback of the day and night cycle is the addition of nighttime missions. Unlike many games, starting a quest in Far Cry 6 doesn’t automatically advance time. This oversight on the developer’s part effectively blocks players from progressing until they’ve waited for up to 30 minutes for the sun to set.

It seems like a big blunder on Ubisoft’s part to omit a feature to change the time manually. Although the move was intentional, we can expect that Ubisoft should release a patch fix for the time skip to keep things on track.

6. About Far Cry 6
