An Honorable Death is a limited-time mission in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. To unlock this mission, players first need to complete a series of quests in the Oskoreia Festival. The names of these events are Riding for Glory, Targeted Strategy, Veiled Threats, and Homeward.
After finishing these missions, the game will add ‘An Honorable Death’ quest to the event list and the map. It’s undoubtedly the most grueling mission to complete at the Oskoreia Festival. Therefore, I’ve made a complete walkthrough of everything you need to do to learn about Kalf’s fate.
A Walkthrough Of An Honorable Death In Assassins Creed: Valhalla
To begin the mission, head to Ravensthorpe, where you have to lead the Oskoreia Festival. To specify, the player has to go to the large ship at the center of the festival area.
In the enormous ship, you’ll discover the names of the departed inscribed upon it. Each name inscribed has a brief story of what happened to them, but the protagonist discovers the ‘Kalf’ written in charcoal. After the cutscene, use Odin’s sight to follow the traces of charcoal and find the man who scribbled Kalf’s name.
Unfortunately, you’ll find the culprit lying dead behind the pillar next to the Museum. The person will have a note explaining how they managed to protect a village because they saw it coming. After going through the veil, the protagonist has to search for the clues behind Kalf’s fate. They are the campfire, a broken arm ring, weapons, and remains of the longship bow.
Odin’s sight plays a crucial role in digging out the clues hidden by the terrain. They highlight the objects in a green shine, making it easier for the player to search during the mission. If you’re still struggling, here’s how you can find each clue to investigate Kalf fate:
- First, find the campfire near the cliff, a little ahead of the veil where you begin the investigation.
- Then, jump down the cliff and head towards the river where you’ll spot a campsite.
- Swim across the river and climb up a ledge to find weapons used by Kalf’s crew near another camp.
- Dive into the river and search the burnt remains of a longship bow near the shipwreck caused by the fierce battle.
After you search for these clues, a cutscene will trigger that summarizes what happened to Kalf. It explains that Kalf was one of Ubba’s men who lit up the boat to warn other villagers of the incoming danger. But, when the enemy began the attack, Ubbe abandoned Kalf and left him alone.
After learning about everything, the protagonist will return to the Oskoreia Festival to properly carve Kalf’s name into the ship. It concludes all you have to do to complete the mission.
Finishing An Honorable Death gives players access to a brand-new mission called A Measure of Respect and provides 300 festival tokens.
