How to defeat the Dreki boss? – God of War: Ragnarok Guide

God of War: Ragnarok is filled with amazing bosses and mini-bosses. The variety of bosses and enemies are a huge improvement from its previous entry, God of War (2018). One of such bosses is the Dreki that you’ll come across very early on in your journey.

Dreki is a large crocodile living at the Svartalfheim mountain top forge. Kratos and Atreus will encounter a dead one before another alive Dreki appears in that area. In order to progress through the story, you’ll have to defeat the Dreki and it can be pretty challenging.

The Drekki Boss Fight

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to beat the Dreki successfully, and the attacks that you have to look out for. Defeating the Dreki can be a bit difficult, especially when you’re playing on a higher difficulty. You should always equip the best armor when facing a boss but playstyle also matters very much.

The Dreki can be defeated through repeatedly parrying its attacks, dodging when needed and by attacking it aggressively. Dodging can be pretty difficult sometimes, especially when it swings its tail, so time your block perfectly. Attack whenever you get a chance and you should beat it in no time.

First Phase

The Dreki is going to use its tail and mouth the most to attack you so observe its attacks very closely. Whenever it moves away from you, it will spit a stream of water your way which you can either dodge or block.

The Drekki Using its Mouth to Attack

Whenever the Dreki is stunned or is vulnerable to attacks, activate your Spartan Rage and land some hits. When dealing good amounts of damage, you can always rely on good old Spartan Rage. When the rage meter is slowly filling up, use your Axe to do some damage and slowly take its health away. Also, don’t forget to parry, we suggest using the Dauntless Shield if you can time your parry perfectly.

Activate Spartan Rage Whenever Possible

When the Dreki opens its mouth, it indicates that it will try to bite you. Whenever you notice a red indicator, it means that you can’t block that attack and you have to dodge it, while yellow indicator attacks can be parried. The Dreki can also lunge at you from a distance which can also be blocked and parried.

Second Phase

In the second half of the boss fight, the attacks of the Dreki will somewhat change as it will now be spewing electricity. This will be a red indicator attack so you can’t block it, either you have to dodge it or run away to a distance where the electricity doesn’t reach you. Getting hit with the electricity will leave you temporarily paralyzed so try not to get it hit.

That’s all you need to know to defeat the Dreki. Just play aggressively, time your blocks and parries perfectly depending on the shield you’re using and you should be fine.
