Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has gone above and beyond to capture every aspect of the authentic Viking lifestyle. From brutal fights to adrenaline-inducing adventures, the game has it all. But, the game has also packed in a few Easter eggs and slow-paced missions/events to make sure the players get the best of both worlds. One such side mission is the “Trick or Treat” part of “The First Night of Samhain” quest. This mission lets Eivor put on a costume and enjoy the spooky holiday.
While the thought of going trick-or-treating in AC Valhalla sounds fun, some players have reported getting a glitch causing a not-so-fun time. If you’re one of the poor souls that couldn’t enjoy this event, here are some tips that might help you get it fixed.
First, do remember that the Trick or Treat part of The First Night of Samhain quest will only be available after you’ve pledged your alliance to the Glowescestrescire area.
1. The First Night of Samhain Quest in AC Valhalla
The first quest of the Glowescestrescire area will instruct Eivor to meet Gunnar, fight some boars, trick-or-treat, engage in a brawl in the town, and finally, end with an ale drinking competition. Being the first mission assigned to the Glowescestrescire area, a mission marker will be directly added to the map, making sure you know exactly where to go. Although most parts of this quest are pretty easy to beat, the brawl is where you need to be a little bit more careful.
Just dodge the attacks at the right time, and you’ll be good to go.
2. How to Trick or Treat in AC Valhalla?
To trick or treat in AC Valhalla, players need to start “The First Night of Samhain” mission and speak to Gunnar. After that, Gunnar will dress Eivor as Mari Lwyd, and players will be able to trick or treat by going up to the doors of certain houses.
If you cannot find which houses to knock, use your Odin’s Sight abilities to detect the houses. Once you reach the house and ask the homeowner for a treat, the mission will come to a successful end.
But some players have even reported having experienced glitches in this particular part of the mission.
3. Trick or Treat Bug/Glitch and Fix
Some players reported that they could not trick or treat even when they approached a door of any house as the doors were locked.
If you’ve also been in the same predicament, then you might just be doing the wrong thing. Keep in mind that Eivor needs to be wholly disguised as Mari Lwyd before approaching the trick-or-treat doors. That means players need to make sure they have their hood on while doing the mission. To equip the hood, press D-pad on your controller and select the cloak option. Or, you can also try removing the hood and wearing it once again.
But, if you’re still unable to do the quest, try and revert to the previous save and try the mission again to fix it.
After the simple trick-or-treating part of the mission out of the way, Eivor will once again have to find Gunnar’s whereabouts before diving into a heated brawl amongst fighters. The First Night of Samhain quest ends with a classic Viking style ale drinking competition and unlocks the next mission in the Glowescestrescire arc.
