Fix 1: Disable browser extensions such as Adblockers and Truffle.Tv and BBTV

Browser extensions such as Adblockers have become essential for everyday internet users. They are a great piece of software providing additional features on a website, but sometimes these extensions can cause issues.

If you use an Adblocker or extensions for Twitch like Truffle.Tv or BBTV, try disabling it in your browser settings. Since extensions sometimes alter Javascript in browsers, it may cause errors in websites like Twitch which heavily rely on it for their functioning.

You can follow the below-mentioned steps to disable unnecessary extensions in your respective browsers.

I. Microsoft Edge

  • Open Microsoft Edge and click on the three dots icon at the top right corner of the browser. A drop-down menu should appear.

Fix 2: opt out of Twitch Beta Site

Twitch is constantly updating the website to give users the best possible experience. Users can access Twitch’s Beta Site to see these updates first-hand. The beta site is an unstable version and is generally full of bugs and glitches.

If you are using Twitch’s Beta Site, try reverting to the last stable version of the site and check if the issue is resolved. Since beta versions generally contain many bugs, it might be the reason for the problem. It is probably better to use the last stable version of the website until the next release.

To revert to the last stable version of the site, follow these steps:

  • Open Twitch.tv and click on the user menu in the top right corner of the webpage.
  • A drop-down menu should appear. Uncheck the Beta site option and wait for the website to reload.

Fix 3: Add /live to your Twitch URLs

This is a temporary fix until Twitch decides to fix the issue thoroughly. Since it is a quick fix, you need to perform it repeatedly for each Twitch URL, which can become tiresome. In that case, you can try bookmarking the essential links or use this fix on the “following” section and bookmark it.

According to some users adding “/live” at the end of Twitch URLs can solve the issue temporarily. Add “/live” at the end of the Twitch URL and hit enter. You should perform this fix on the “following” section and bookmark it to avoid repeating the fix repeatedly for each URL.

Follow these steps to perform this temporary fix:

Fix 4: Access Twitch on another Platform/Browser

If none of the previous solutions works for you, don’t worry. There is still one thing that you can try.

Try accessing Twitch on your mobile phone, Windows 10/11 dedicated app, or any browser other than your default. If Twitch works on any other platform or browser, a browser-specific issue might be the reason and needs to be fixed.

If that is the case, try reinstalling your browser and see if it fixes the issue. Otherwise, keep using any other platform/browser until Twitch fixes the error for your default browser.

If you still face issues, you can try Clearing the Browser Cache and accessing Twitch in incognito mode. You can also try using a VPN if facing speed throttling from your ISP. If nothing works, try contacting the Twitch support team.
