Hylian Rice Farming Guide – Locations and More | Tears of the Kingdom

Breath of the Wild’s Hylian Rice makes a return in Tears of the Kingdom. Hylian Rice is used to restore health as well as suppress the effects of Gloom when combined with Fresh Milk and Sundelions. However, finding this resource is a challenging task.

Hylian Rice in Tears of the Kingdom can be purchased at General Stores in two villages:

  • Hateno (coordinates 3357, -2165, 0120); and
  • Lookout Landing (coordinates -0209, 0081, 0019)

Alternatively they can be purchased from wandering merchants. A bundle of 5 costs 12 Rupees.

Purchasing Hylian Rice at General Store

When the General Stores run out of Hylian Rice stocks, look for wandering merchants to buy them. It is worth noting that while some may have Hylian Rice to be purchased, others may not.

It’s possible that due to high demand at the General Stores, Hylian Rice is out of stock. To solve this problem, rest until the next day. The Hylian Rice may be back in stock then. It’s not guaranteed but it’s definitely worth a shot.

How to farm Hylian Rice in Tears of the Kingdom?

Farming Hylian Rice

Hylian Rice can be farmed near ponds and wetlands using a sharp weapon. Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower and Koto Pond are two locations containing ponds with grass growing around it.

Note: Hylian Rice are yellow in color, so hitting the yellow grass will drop Hylian Rice in Tears of the Kingdom.

The game encourages players to explore the large open world. Exploration can pay off if you’re looking at the right place. The Hearty Durian is a similar resource which is, unfortunately, not available in Tears of the Kingdom. If you’re looking for alternatives to it, check out our guide below:
