Love it or hate it, the ending for AC Valhalla is certainly way different from that of its predecessors. One wrong choice can determine the fate of your game, and as gamers, we would definitely want to keep the best ending streak alive.
When you are playing as Eivor, it will all come down to getting the support of your brother Sigurd. Remember, the choices you have made throughout the game will make or break Sigurd’s decision in choosing you as the Jarlskona of Ravensthorpe.
The final mission titled “A Brother’s Keeper” is definitely a lore packed mission. It will make you a bit confused by the end so make sure you have both the Asgard Saga and the Jotunheim Saga to keep up with the story.
1. The Hall of Slain And Eivor’s Fight With Sigurd
‘A Brother’s Keeper’ mission starts immediately after the end of the ‘Where Legends Are Born’ mission. Sigurd takes Eivor all the way to Norway to an underground secret vault. Upon questioning, you learn that he is also an Isu and is taking you to the Hall of The Slain.
Sigurd finally takes you to the tree of life and you find Svala dangling from one of the mechanical arms of the tree. Bidding farewell, you also join Svala into the Valhalla realm.
In the Valhalla realm, Svala greets you, after which Sigurd challenges you to fight. After a loop of several fights, you as Eivor reunite with your father. In the cutscenes, all of them try to convince Eivor to remain in the realm with his loved ones but Eivor wishes to return.
Convincing Sigurd, you two try to head back when Odin appears, challenging you for a duel.
2. Odin and Eivor’s Fight
As you wake up in Odin’s world he goes through instances of your life and on wanting to return to your world he challenges you to a fight.
Odin is definitely a formidable foe but you don’t really get killed in the battle. You go back to the real world after the fight ends.
3. Basim’s Tries To Kill Eivor And Sigurd
Digging into the whole Norse Gods mythology, it is revealed that Basim is the reincarnation of Loki from Eivor’s Isu past. He vows to kill Isu to take revenge for his son.
You can also defeat Basim pretty easily as a few combo hits on him triggers the cut scene where he runs off to another realm.
Finally, we reach a point where your past choices come into play. Depending on whether or not you’ve made the right choices, Sigurd offers to stay with you while you lead your people, or sails off leaving you behind.
4. How to Get the Best Ending for AC Valhalla?
To trigger the best ending in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, make sure that you don’t opt for these options while playing, since choosing three or more will make Sigurd leave your side.
- If Eivor steals Styrbjorn’s cargo.
- If Eivor starts a relationship with Randvi before her and Sigurd’s separation.
- If Eivor punches Basim and Sigurd during the Oxenfordscire mission.
- If Eivor denies Dag’s axe in their final fight.
- If Eivor denies Sigurd’s judgement.
If you have chosen none of these options or only two of them, you will get the best ending for AC Valhalla and Sigurd will crown you the Jarlskona of Ravensthorpe.
But the scene does not stop there as we also get to ponder upon Layla Hassan’s side of the story.
5. Does Layla Die in AC Valhalla?
Layla visits Isu’s vault and is soon greeted by Basim who is still in the Valhalla realm. Layla also meets The Reader, an entity roaming around the realm.
The Reader warns Layla about her body being exposed to lethal radiation and about a catastrophe hitting the world soon. Losing the Staff of Eden while entering Valhalla, Layla has no choice but to stay and help The Reader in his quest to save the world.
We can assume Layla’s body is slowly dying due to radiation poisoning in the real world.
Let us know which ending did you get?
