The Dragon Island in Elden Ring is a region you cannot afford to turn a blind eye to. Not only is this mysterious island brimming with oodles of loot, but it’s also the home of the Church of Dragon Communion, a building that lets players unlock powerful spells by sacrificing the right items.
Unfortunately, the caveat involved here is that it cannot be accessed while traveling across the water. As strong as the Tarnished is, it seems like he bunked his swimming classes and can die when the water level is too deep. Bummer, right? So, how can the Dragon Island that’s west of Limgrave be reached then?
Players can reach the Dragon Island in Elden Ring by traversing the dark depths of Coastal Cave, that’s situated on the western coast of Limgrave, southwest of the Church of Elleh.
Note: Don’t forget to carry a torch as well because the cave is unilluminated.
But like it always happens in a Soulsborne game, your path to a place of value will be full of all sorts of horrors. As you head inside the dungeon, be prepared to take on a plethora of bloodthirsty enemies. While you can also run right past them, I would suggest battling it out so you can get your hands on extra runes.
When you are done killing or avoiding them, loot the area and brace yourself to enter the next chamber. Before you go deeper into this part of the cave, interact with the golden light and summon Old Knight Istvan, who can help you in beating the bosses.
With the knight pledging allegiance to you, you can either head inside the enemy territory all-guns-blazing or quietly assassinate the minions to lower their number and then challenge the bosses. The choice is yours!
I would suggest that you be a ninja about it and be done with your job stealthily because being a Stallone here can create a bit of pandemonium.
After defeating the bosses and picking up all the loot, advance towards the back of the chamber. Do not interact with the white pillar of light you see here, as it will take you back to the entrance. Ignore it and keep moving further until you reach a new tunnel.
Here, you will again have to put your weapons to use and fight your way past several foes. Once done, keep heading further, and this time, you’ll finally be able to set foot at the entrance of Dragon Island.

Players can acquire three powerful incantations from The Church of Dragon Communion at the cost of one Dragon Heart. They are:

- Dragonmaw – Channels a dragon to bite the foes in front of the caster.
