In Far Cry 6, one of the most helpful companions is Boom Boom. The mission to unlock Boom Boom is pretty simple and does not involve a lot of combat. But, the path to unlocking the quest is relatively more engaging. 

Players who have played Far Cry 5 might know Boom Boom as the Boomer Dog or the Fang for Hire. In the latest installation (Far Cry 6), he is of the same breed and has similar abilities that he gained in Montana, where Far Cry 5 occurred. Now, he finds himself in the Republic of Yara.

Boom Boom is in a blue shipping container located west of Feroza during a sidequest.Feroza is a town in Valley de Oro. It is north of Camp Maximus, the only main camp in the region.  

The camp is in the subregion of Balacera and is home to multiple hidden histories. One of which is Bembe’s Secret 2, which unlocks on the mission Balance the Books.

To unlock Boom Boom in Far Cry 6, players will have to access a sidequest, namely, Boom or Bust. To do that, they need to rescue two of the main Liberated Forces, Paolo de la Vega and Talia Benavidez of Maximas Matanzas in Valley de Oro.  

After completing the operation, Meet the Matanzas, players can grab the sidequest from a note nailed to a post near Camp Maximas.

Players should travel to Feroza, located northeast of the Judia Verde River in Valley de Oro, to complete the Boom or Bust quest. Then, players need to open light blue shipping containers and find Boom Boom in a yellow search area.  

They can do so by shooting on the locks or hitting them with a machete. Players will be able to hear barks coming from the southwest corner of the search area, which will suggest the presence of Boom Boom in that direction.  

After players open the necessary container, they will officially unlock Boom Boom as their Amigo. As a result, they will also get to see all of Boom Boom’s abilities. If all his abilities are unlocked, Boom Boom can come in handy while liberating Yara from Anton Castillo.

Boom Boom is a Stealth Amigo, but his skills and abilities make him more suitable for a scouting role. Given his size, he can also attack enemies to disengage them from attacking the players. But, his attacks can’t be relied upon to kill. Remember, Boom Boom’s primary ability is retrieving resources from the dead bodies of enemies.  

Boom Boom can unlock the following three abilities after reaching specific milestones:  

  • Pointer: Used to mark the location of enemy troops and animals to execute sneak attacks. 
  • Expert Tracker: Used to track enemies from far to help remain undetected.  
  • Thick Coat: Boom Boom can withstand more damage because of his thick fur coat.

Players need to reach the following milestones to unlock Boom Boom’s special abilities: 

I. Pointer  

This ability unlocks when Boom Boom retrieves resources from the bodies of 10 dead enemies. The best way is by having him retrieve supplies while players snipe enemies from long distances to remain undetected. 

II. Expert Tracker 

To unlock this ability, Boom Boom needs to tag 24 animals. It is easy to achieve since Boom Boom is inherently a good tracker. Also, unlocking this enables him to track better. 

III. Thick Coat 

Players can unlock this ability by using Boom Boom to tag 50 enemies. They can let Boom Boom scout ahead in FND checkpoints and Military Targets to reach this milestone.

Boom Boom’s strengths involve tracking, tagging, and retrieving. Therefore, he can effectively identify threats and plan attacks while keeping the player’s position hidden. He can also be used to restock the player’s resources, such as ammo and other supplies. 

Note: Boom Boom can’t die but, he can still sustain damage from enemies.  

Now, players know everything they need to unlock and use Boom Boom in Far Cry 6. Remember that players can’t get Boom Boom through the main storyline. Instead, they need to complete a sidequest, meaning not everyone will get him as an Amigo.  

7. About Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 is the latest insallment in the Far Cry series developed and published by Ubisoft. The game is an open-world, first-person action adventure title, and is set for a 2021 release.

Players will take control of Dani Rojas, a freedom fighting guerrilla, who is trying to overthrow the local dictator Anton Castillo. Far Cry 6 is based on the fictional island of Yara, and has been called the largest map of any Far Cry game yet. Players will have access to a variety of hand-made weapons and local vehicles in their fight against the forces of Castillo.
