Deathloop – Crack the Code for Dawn of Reason’s Locked Door

Throughout your playthrough of the stylish FPS rogue-lite, Deathloop, you’re bound to encounter an obstacle or two that will leave you scratching your head. One of these head-scratchers comes from the Super Shifty – a sequence of puzzles that, when completed, rewards you with one of the best weapons in the game.

What I’m talking about is the Dawn of Reason locked door challenge that requires Colt to find the code for a locked door in Karl’s Bay within a given time frame. In typical Deathloop fashion, however, the code for the door is always randomized and will differ from player to player.

It can get pretty tricky to get through this particular part of the run, but fret not, for I have a pretty simple solution to unlocking the door – with it, we can even get around the time constraint of the whole thing with ease. Let’s have a look at it then, shall we?

To unlock the Dawn of Reason door, bypass the timer by entering through the window from right of the main door. Once inside, study the white and red circles in the room and find the numbers hidden within them. Finally, after finding all the numbers, put them in the dial accordingly to get inside.

There are more aspects to this whole thing than what I’ve just described, especially when it comes to those circles that I just mentioned. Don’t worry, though – we’re going to cover all that in all its depth.

So, without further ado, let’s jump straight into unlocking the Dawn of Reason’s locked door in Deathloop.

Deathloop Dawn Of Reason – Accessing the Quest the Right Way

Firstly, you’d want to make your way to Karl’s Bay at night, specifically its nightclub. It’s tucked within a tunnel underneath the cliff face. Here, you’ll find a door that says “Dawn of Reason” with a lever to its side.

As pulling the lever will start the timer for the puzzle, we’re going to take an alternative route that completes eliminates the time constraint.

Now, you need to head over to the right of the main door into a yard of sorts – here you’ll come across another passage into the Dawn of Reason. You can get yourself inside the place through the window above the shut door. Now that you’re inside, you can easily solve the puzzle without a timer over your head.

How do you unlock the Dawn of Reason door in Deathloop?

With the timer out of the way, now it’s time to discuss the main chunk of the puzzle. Note the white circles with a bit of red in them throughout the room. They can be a bit tricky to spot as each of them requires players to adjust their camera angles a little – there are four such circles, and each of them hints toward one digit of the code. The circles will look pretty similar to the dial that unlocks the door, like this:

So, here’s the deal – the edge of each circle represents the dial, with the red representing the exact number that you need to hit. The four strokes, on the other hand, represent the placement of the codes. The code is going to be different for every player from here on out as the red spots are randomized.

Let me give you an example – in the image below, for the first digit of the code, represented by the stroke within, you need to take the dial to three.

Observe the Circles and Crack the Hidden Numbers

Similarly, you need to observe the circles and crack the numbers hidden within them. Once you have all the numbers, you need to adjust the locked door’s dial accordingly and finally, unlock the door. Inside, you’ll come across one of the three gift boxes of Charlie’s challenge.

A word of advice – maintain a bit of distance from the gift box within as it could be explosive.

What can you do with the Gift box from the Dawn of Reason?

This gift box, along with the other three, will help you progress Charlie’s challenge. Once you complete the final challenge that he has in store for Colt, you receive the Heritage Gun as a reward, one of the strongest weapons in the game.

The Heritage Gun

The Heritage Gun is a badass weapon that is also one of the strongest shotguns in this game. The weapon has a spread mode that works like any other shotgun but with an even meaner punch, and a slug mode that fires powerful, ranged projectiles capable of taking out the strongest of enemies with ease – it’s almost game-breaking.

That said, it’s easy to guess that the weapon is a must-have for every player and most certainly worth the time and effort that you put into this Challenge.

So, what are you waiting for? It’s time for you to grab the shotgun for yourself and make Colt’s journey through Blackreef a whole lot easier.
