Intel’s Core i9-13900K ES3 Engineering Sample Boosts up to 5.5 GHz

After a sample of Intel’s i9-13900K CPU found its way online for sale, users worldwide were quick for their input. Many tried their hands at testing the product samples of the chiplets available.

A member of Chiphell forums, @Lordzzz, revealed a ton of new information regarding the Intel Raptor Lake engineering samples illegally ending up on sale.

The user posted a clear picture of the censored chiplet, highlighted after being put up for sale on a Chinese retail site. The image confirmed that the sample is 13th Gen ‘Raptor Lake’ Core i9-13900K, ES1 silicon with code Q0D8 SPEC.

Irrespective of the product description, the chiplet has limited overclocking capacity. This CPU version has a few iterations and is an old model.

A screenshot showed the test results for the ES1 chip. The in-built benchmark showed 611 and 13015 points for single and multi-threaded tests, respectively. The sample boosts up to 4.5 GHz and has no AVX-512 support. The TDP is 125W; hence, it is a K-series model.

The user also had access to the ES3 silicon with code Q1HM SPEC sample. This chiplet boosts up to 5.5 GHz with one core and to 5.3 GHz with all given Performance cores.

The clock rate implies it is similar to that of the Core i9-12900KS Special Edition. The CPU scored 880 and ~15000 points in single and multi-threaded CPU-Z tests.

Intel is scheduled to release the Raptor Lake series around October. The CPUs will feature the LGA1700 socket interface with twice the efficiency cores as the Alder Lake series.
