Intel Core i9-13980HX is the Flagship CPU of 13th Gen Mobile Series

Intel has finally announced its all-new 13th Gen Core mobile processors series consisting of several new SKUs with the latest specs and technology.

Intel announces five mobile series, launching in Jan namely HX, H-series, P-series, U-series, and N-series processors.

These processors will range from ultra-low power to high-end desktop cards, with 4 to 24 cores, and 6W to 157W TDP.

HX Processors

This range consists of 9 new processors, all featuring 10 to 24 cores. This is unprecedented for Intel to add this many cores to a laptop chipset. However, with a base power of 55W, a higher core count, and limited graphics, these SKUs are not your average mobile processors. The HX series also has a higher maximum turbo power of 157W, which is 42W more than the H series.

The flagship CPU is called the Core i9-13980HX, and will feature 24 cores with up to 5.6 GHz maximum boost power. The i9-13950HX and i9-13900HX will not be too far behind since both these CPUs will have 5.5 and 5.4 GHz boost respectively.

The i7-13850HX has an unusual 20-core and 28-thread configuration. Only these four SKUs will support DDR5-5600 memory while the rest of the series will run with 4800 MT/s.

H series

The H SKUs are expected to be the more popular choice for the common folk since the HX series is designed for gamers and workstations. There aren’t that many significant changes compared to the 12th Gen series. The processors will be limited to 14 cores and 20 threads, while the base power remains constant at 45W.

P/U Series

There will be four new P-series SKUs, 9 U-series SKUs, and one special SKU titled U300 in the new 13th Gen series. The specs will vary from 5 to 14 cores and 20 threads. These processors are fit for everyday use laptops that do require discrete GPUs.

N Series

Technically, the N-series is not a part of the 13th Gen Core. The new N-Series Processor family is a successor to the Celeron/Pentium series.

These Alder Lake-N SKUs feature 8 and 4-core configurations. Intel has only Max Turbo Power instead of providing TDPs, these range from 6W to 15W, which is way less than the U-series. The N-series will be used in entry-level desktops.
