Intel’s 13th Gen Core CPU samples have made their way to users. With their new design, the CPUs are delivering stellar results such as boosted clock speeds, increased overall performance, and more.
ExtremePlayer tested the gaming performance of Intel’s pre-production samples of the upcoming 13th Gen “Raptor Lake” i5-13600K and i7-13700K CPUs.
The 13th Gen Core series features more Gracemont Efficient Cores, higher clock speeds, and higher power (PL1/PL2) limits.
The higher core count is responsible for a boost in multi-threaded tests, whereas the high clock speed and higher maximum TDP offer better gaming performance.
The i5-13600K is a 14-core CPU with boost clock speed up to 4.9 GHz and up to 150W PL2 level, whereas the 12600K only had ten cores.
The i7-13700K features 16 cores, a boost clock of 5.4 GHz, and 244W TDP, which is 50W more than the 12700K.
The reviewer used two motherboards– ASRock Z690 Steel Legend in DDR5-6400 and DDR4-3600 memory variants.
The Raptor Lake CPUs are compared to their Alder Lake predecessors, the i7-12700KF and i5-12600K. The MSI RTX 3090 Ti GAMING X TRIO GPU is used in the setup.
Twitter user @harukaze5719 redesigned the charts for easier understanding. One can quickly draw the conclusion that the new Raptor Lake CPUs are faster at every resolution, including FHD and QHD, which are favored for CPU-bound tests.

While the average framerate increased to 12% at FHD resolution, the minimum framerates improved significantly for all resolutions; the tests showed an 11% to 14% improvement for FHD.
Intel’s 13th Gen “Raptor Lake” series will be released in Q4 this year.
