Intel’s Flagship i9-13900K CPU Scores 2300+ in Geekbench 5 Benchmark

Intel’s Raptor Lake series are powerful, re-designed CPUs with an increased core count, cache, and modified latencies. The CPUs will have twice the number of efficiency cores.

The flagship model from the lineup features about 68 MB of cache, divided into 36 MB L3 cache and 32MB L2 cache. The AMD Ryzen 9 5950X has a 72 MB cache.

Twitter user @OneRaichu has claimed that Intel’s upcoming Core i9-13900K, the flagship of the 13th Gen Raptor Lake series, could score over 2300 points within the Geekbench 5 standard.

The Geekbench 5 is a multi-platform benchmark that measures system performances.

The Intel i9-12900K CPU had a single-core score of 1990, and the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X CPU achieved 1686 points.

The i9-12900K has 16-cores, uses Intel’s UHG Graphics 770, and is based on Golden Cove architecture, whereas the Ryzen 9 5950X also has 16-cores and is based on Zen 3 architecture.

Compared to these scores, the i9-13900K shows an improvement of about 15% and 35% over the i9-12900K and Ryzen 9 5950X, respectively.

The expected score is evident as the chip carries a greater core count and a higher clock speed of ~5.8GHz.

If we look at AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 7000 series, the Raptor Lake could have a slight advantage over the Zen 4 chips. The CPUs are expected to score somewhere between 1800-1900 single-threaded score.

So the Raphael series might be even slower than the Alder Lake CPUs.

However, AMD has mentioned that they are hesitant about the exact figures, so we will have to wait till after the launch for a better opinion.

The Intel 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs are slated to launch in October 2022 on the Z790 platform. AMD will also be releasing the Ryzen 7000 series around the same time. It looks like we will have a worthy match to look forward to!
