New LGA-2551 Socket to Be Introduced in Intel’s Meteor Lake Series

Intel’s Meteor Lake series will debut a ton of exciting new features. The CPUs will be introducing the all-new Tiled Chip, an integrated Arc GPU design. The 14th Gen series will also be available for desktop PCs.

Amidst all these speculations, there has been no mention of the socket interface for the CPU. Many expected Intel to carry forward the LGA1700 socket, currently seen on the latest Raptor Lake-S lineup.

However, according to Youtuber @Moore’s Law Is Dead, Intel will be introducing a new socket design for the 14th Gen Meteor Lake-S series.

The new socket will be called the LGA-2551, the dimensions for which are 38x46mm, i.e., 0.5mm wider and 1mm taller, compared to the LGA1700.

The alleged photo of the socket indicates it will have about 50% increased contact points.

Although no confirmed main configuration has surfaced yet, it is safe to assume the CPUs will be similar to their preceding Raptor Lake series.

Here’s an overview of everything we know about the Meteor Lake series compared to Raptor Lake.
