Iron Gate’s “Small Update” for Valheim Brings Some Satisfying Tweaks

Earlier this week, mega-popular survival adventure Valheim received a not-so-mega update from developers ay Iron Gate AB. Titled Update 0.148.7 and deemed a “cute mini-tweak patch”, the update added some nice little changes to the game that enhance overall experience in the Norse afterlife.

For starters, the update made using tools like the Hammer, Hoe, and Cultivator more efficient as it brings down the time taken to use them. So now, players can build/repair much quicker with the Hammer, change ground much faster with the Hoe, and farm at higher speeds with the Cultivator.

The patch also brought some welcome localization and sound fixes to the game along with a new footstep sound effect for when players are sneaking about in snow. The final addition by the patch was an updated credit sequence which includes a new look and few names that were missing before.

To summarise, here are the official patch notes from the game’s Steam page:

  • Localization updates
  • Added separate walk-sneak snow footstep sfx
  • Music update (fixed some sound glitches)
  • Credits updated (Changed the look of the credits screen & added missing names)
  • Hammer, Hoe & Cultivator timing & input tweaks (Slightly lower use delay & queued button presses for a smoother experience…just for you)

Being in Early Access, Valheim has been receiving its fair share of patches since its release earlier this year. While these updates are nothing like the ones coming out for CDPR’s Cyberpunk 2077, there’s no doubt that they are steadily improving player experience. The updates have focused on a large variety of things including changes to dedicated servers to boost latency, miscellaneous gameplay fixes for improved performance, and more.

Developers at Iron Gate AB have also announced a significant DLC roadmap for the game and are currently hard at work on the first DLC: Hearth and Home.
