Is a smaller, more efficient Xbox Series X console in the works? 

In terms of the previous console generation, Sony has always managed to have that spark that stole the spotlight away from Microsoft. Enthusiasts have been attracted to the PlayStation brand like bees round a honeypot, and the same story continues to this day, with the PS5 selling nearly twice as many units as Xbox Series X. 

Given that Microsoft is here to capture the market and garner sizeable profits, the American tech giants have got to make their console more appealing or remain in Sony’s shadow for the foreseeable future.  

Thankfully, according to a source, Microsoft has realized there’s no time like the present to revamp things up and is channelizing every bit of effort into the revision of one of its next-gen consoles. 

More specifically, tech journalist Brad Sams is of the opinion that Microsoft is working on rolling out a smaller, more efficient version of the Xbox Series X’s chip. Despite this revamp, he also believes that these optimizations are unlikely to bring performance enhancements to games. 

As a matter of fact, Sams even went on to say if the remodeled Xbox Series X does get to pack an upgraded chip, then the console would still come with the same old blueprint design and framework. The only touch-up would be in regards to efficiency. 

In addition to this, there’s also no telling if this piece of information is related to the rumors of Xbox getting new hardware in late 2022, either. 

Therefore, it remains to be seen whether this news is accurate or not, but it shouldn’t be a shock to anyone if some sort of revision is made to the console. 

Given the waves Sony has created in the community, Microsoft surely cannot hang about for longer.  

It doesn’t matter if the company is interested in launching a digital-only or a smaller, slimmer Xbox Series X in the future, the need of the hour is to make the coming generation of consoles more alluring than before to get some edge over Sony in the ultimate console war.
