Hogwarts Legacy is the perfect action RPG videogame that all the Harry Potter movies and novels fans have wanted for a long time. The game allows players to visit and explore many iconic Hogwarts-related locations, so obviously, the first thing I wanted to look for in the game was the mysterious chamber of secrets and the frightening Basilisk.
Unfortunately, it looks like the game developers were not as enthusiastic as me about this iconic location from Harry Potter.
Hogwarts Legacy does not have the Chamber of Secrets. However, players can still visit and interact with the entrance that leads to the chamber.
Even though it is heartbreaking that you cannot visit the chamber in the game, the fact that you can interact with its entrance provides some hope for its accessibility in the future.
1. Where to find the chamber of secrets entrance in Hogwarts Legacy?
The Chamber of Secrets entrance is located in the girls’ toilets near the Lower Grand Staircase Floo Flame in Hogwarts Legacy.
To reach the entrance:
- Fast travel to the Lower Grand Staircase Floo Flame.
- Run all the way down the Grand Staircase.
- Enter through the gate and take the immediate right.
- Take another right and go through the entrance guarded by the two knights.
- Run down the path and enter the girls’/witches’ toilets to the right at the end.
Near the sink in the witches’ toilets, you will see the Field Guide Page for Slytherin’s Sink, which briefly references the mystery behind the Chamber of Secrets.
This very sink was the secret entrance to the chamber in the books that only the true heir of Slytherin can open by speaking a specific phrase in the Parseltongue.
Unfortunately, that’s all the game has to offer about the chamber of secrets. Hopefully, the chamber can be a central plot point for any DLCs planned in the future.
2. Does Hogwarts Legacy have Basilisk?
Hogwarts Legacy does not feature Basilisk, at least not as a prominent creature or a boss enemy, but the Twitter user @MaximRagey claims to have caught a glimpse of the beast.
In the short video posted by @MaximRagey, the player can be seen running up the steps to the Slytherin common room, where they catch a glimpse of a terrifying giant snake slithering through the corridors.
As per the Harry Potter lore, such a giant snake can only be the Basilisk. Still, there is no official confirmation of the beasts’ identity, but this easter egg is a good sign for the exciting potential DLCs.
3. Is Hogwarts Legacy connected to the movies?
Hogwarts Legacy is not connected to the Harry Potter movies, but it sticks to Wizarding World lore by following the same core story elements and locations.
While following these core elements, the game offers an entirely new and unique perspective of Hogwarts and its locations. It follows a completely separate storyline that does not involve the life events of any of the known characters.
4. About Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG from Avalanche Studio. The game places the player in the wizarding school of Hogwarts, allowing them to witness the iconic locations as a character other than Harry Potter.
The game has an expansive map that makes the game very immersive, even for people who are yet to read the books or watched the movie.
The mysterious, gripping storyline, with the vast areas to explored, either on foot or broomstick, makes it even more real life.
