Is there a minimap in God of War Ragnarok? What does the compass do?

God of War Ragnarok is filled with side missions, collectibles, and other content to keep the players engaged. But the huge amount of content can sometimes overwhelm the player as to where to go. There isn’t really a minimap in the game, but there is something that will guide you to wherever you want to go.

You’ll be given a compass by Sindri after you arrive at Nidavellir in Svartalfheim. The compass works in a weird way. It doesn’t point to a specific marker itself. Instead, it will point to a waypoint closest to you, which will help you get to your desired location the quickest.

Due to the compass’ very specific way of functioning, some players thought that it was a bug. But we can assure you that it’s not a bug, it’s just the way it works. Once you get a grip on how the compass works, it’ll be much easier for you to traverse toward your desired locations.

Can you turn off the compass?

Yes, you can indeed turn the compass off in the settings. To turn it off, go to Settings, then go to HUD Customization in the Gameplay tab. All the options here are on by default and the compass option is included in them, too. So you can simply turn off the compass option here if you don’t want it and you can turn it on later if you change your mind.

That’s everything you need to know about the compass you’ll receive from Sindri.
