1Zhongli is a Literal God in Genshin Impact
Zhongli is the present persona of God of Contracts, Morax, in Genshin Impact. He is also the current Geo Archon, presiding over Liyue, one of the seven major nations of Teyvat.
Zhongli cherishes Liyue and has slain many gods to protect the nation, which has also earned him the title of “The Warrior God.”
Eager to give up his divine role as the overseer of Liyue, he even faked his death with the aid of the Tsaritsa and her envoy, Signora, in an elaborate facade to see if the people of Liyue were capable enough to continue with their lives without their deity.
He gave up his Gnosis as part of his contract with Tsaritsa and is now retired from serving as an Archon.
2Zhongli is Way Older Than He Looks
Zhongli is the oldest character in Genshin Impact. He is over 6000 years old, but he has only been a god for 2000+ years despite his age. Zhongli ascended as the Geo Archon sometime during the Archon War.
In the context of age, he is only rivaled by Barbatos (Venti), God of Freedom, who ascended to the godhood 2600 years ago. At the end of the Archon War, Morax (Zhongli) and Barbatos were the only surviving member of the original Seven Archons.
3Teyvat’s Currency is Named After Zhongli
Mora is the only currency of Teyvat in Genshin Impact. It is named after Zhongli’s divine persona, Morax.
Mora can only be minted in the Golden House of Liyue using the power of the Geo Archon’s Gnosis, so Liyue named it accordingly. However, the minting of Mora has stopped now as Zhongli has given up his Gnosis. It still remains to be seen that what happens to the economy of Teyvat.
Ironically, Zhongli never keeps any Mora on him and has to rely on others to pay for the goods he needs. As a God, he just can’t get his head around the human concept of money and its importance.
4Zhongli HATES Seafood
Zhongli detests seafood with his whole heart as it reminds him of the slimy texture and unwashable scent of the tons of sea creatures that attacked Liyue around the time of the Archon War.
He had to catch and imprison them all as these creatures lived even after being chopped up by his stone lance. Their slimy texture, thick fluids, and unbearable smell were just too much to be handled for the God of Contracts.
5Zhongli Likes to Stroll in the City
Zhongli admits in one of his voice-overs that he likes to have a walk in the city whenever he gets time as it feels very calming to him. But he seems unaware of the fact that when he started liking it.
