After a year-long period that saw the first announcement and a couple of teasers, we finally have an official release date for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. The long-awaited third entry in the Test Drive series will arrive for PC, PS4|5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2022.
Publisher Nacon announced the date during their Nacon Connect 2021event and unveiled a stylish new trailer revealing the open-world racer’s setting.
Following the Oahu and Ibiza locations of previous games, developer KT racing will take racing enthusiasts to the streets of Hong Kong, recreated on a 1:1 scale. From a terrain standpoint, players will have forests, mountains, marshes, and beaches to explore.
It’s evident from the new trailer that Unlimited Solar Crown won’t be your typical racing sim. There’s a vibe going on that is reminiscent of the underworld shown in the John Wick franchise.
Ultra-rich and vaguely sinister folks are at the top of the food chain, and their cars are befitting of their societal standing. These themes will also be found in the game’s narrative beats.
Unlimited Solar Crown will feature a racing tournament and a conflict between two clans – the Streets and the Sharps. Players will join one of them, rise through the ranks, and help fellow members overthrow the rival clan. Furthermore, as per the game’s Steam page, players will face-off against their rivals in these confirmed cars: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Koenigsegg, Apollo, Dodge, and Bugatti.
There isn’t much info available regarding the game’s multiplayer mode, but more details should emerge in the next couple of months. However, we know that both cars and avatars will be customizable, which will be essential to the overall experience.
Nacon’s Livestream also featured an announcement that focused on The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which was delayed to 2022 earlier this year.
The game will explore the events between Gollum’s finding of the One Ring of Power and the start of The Lord of the Rings story. Familiar characters like Legolas’ father, Thranduil, and Gandalf will also appear.
Nacon also announced RoboCop: Rogue City with a brief teaser. The first-person shooter will arrive for PC and consoles in 2023 and see the legendary humanoid put in charge of keeping Old Detroit in check.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is an upcoming racing game developed by KT Racing and published by Nacon. It will be the twenty-first game in the Test Drive series, the first title in the series since 2012’s Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends, and the third game in the franchise’s open world Unlimited sub-series.
The game was first teased on July 3, 2020 and is set to arrive for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It has no specific release date at the moment.
