Kingdom: Classic is Free on the Humble Store!

Released back in 2015, Kingdom: Classic is a delightful management game that is free for grabs on the Humble Store for the week!

In this wonderfully crafted game, you play either as a king or a queen, and you need to make sure that your kingdom does not fall into decline or perish.

But, and that’s a genuinely big but right here, do not fall for the game’s cutesy and charming pixelated art style because underneath it lies a game that is tough as nails where even a single error can prove to be the end of it all!

“In Kingdom, each coin spent can tip the balance between prosperity and decay. Attend to your domain, border to border, or venture into the wild to discover its wonders and its threats. Master the land, build your defenses, and when the darkness comes, stand with your people, crown on your head, until the very end.”

However, I have to say that the game does a fantastic job of easing the players into its mechanics before dialing it all straight to 11.

It starts simple enough, with your task being to stave off a bunch of monsters but then slowly but steadily, the armies attacking you become larger and larger until your army can no longer handle it, recruiting more people starts becoming difficult, fortifying the place becomes almost impossible, and all of a sudden, you find yourself running out of money quicker than you could imagine until of course, you lose it all!

I’m telling you, the game’s pixelated art style is there to provide a form of serenity to the players before it hits you with unimaginable levels of stress, and you know what? It’s fun as hell!

Adding all of the above to the fact that the world feels so mysterious that it practically begs to be explored more and more and, once you get the hang of it, the entire process is way too satisfying to easily put down, and you get a game that offers way more than it should for the price it costs!

That said, be sure to check this game out because, other than filling you up with a lot of stress, it is one of the most unique and in-depth management sims out there! So, grab it before it disappears as a free-to-play in around six days!
