Konami Reveals More about eFootball with FAQ-answering Twitter Thread

Last month, Konami shifted gears for its long-running football game franchise Pro-evolution Soccer by rebranding it as a free-to-play title called eFootball.

The development came as a surprise to many of the series’ fans and gave rise to many questions concerning features and gameplay.

Yesterday, Konami took to Twitter and answered some of these questions in one sizeable thread.

For those wondering about PES’ Master League, Konami clarified in the thread that the feature would arrive for eFootball as an optional DLC.

However, the developers neglected to provide a release period and asked fans to await further announcements.

Konami also shared that the “Early Autumn” phase would be a lot like a demo that will be completely free-to-play.

Additionally, the Local Match feature in this phase will let players compete with CPU opponents from the get-go, which should resolve fans’ playability concerns.

Fans have also been worried about the graphical capabilities of eFootball, seeing how the game is supposed to be compatible with mobile along with PC and consoles.

Thankfully, Konami made it clear in the thread that fans playing on PC and console will not see any graphical downgrades. The game will take full advantage of the hardware capabilities of every platform.

While nothing about team and league licenses was mentioned in the thread, Konami outlined that players on consoles and PC would get support for customization options like Edit Mode and Option Files.

This is crucial because these customization options have helped players circumvent PES’ lack of licensing for years.

The details offered in the thread should help boost player sentiment. But Konami still has a lot to address since we still don’t know how eFootball will handle in-game animations.

As seen with FIFA 22’s HyperMotion technology, rendering realistic animations requires capable hardware, like that found on the PS5 or the Xbox Series S|X.

But since eFootball must be compatible on both mobile and console & PC, how will Konami bring impressive animations? It’s quite the problem, and it’s something Konami will need to resolve successfully.

eFootball arrives for PC, PS4|5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S in Autumn 2021. For the Android and iOS versions of the game, there is no official release period yet.
