Leak on 4chan Suggests Assassin’s Creed Might Be Heading to India

A new leak has come to light regarding the next Assassin’s Creed game. The leak is from a self-proclaimed Ubisoft insider and suggests that the new game will be set in the Indian subcontinent.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has seen reinvigorated success ever since Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed: Origins, which functioned as a soft reboot. The developers then followed it up with Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and later with Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, which has reportedly been the best-selling game in the franchise.

Valhalla was released in November 2020, so it is still a relatively new game. However, rumors and leaks are already going about regarding the next Assassin’s Creed game.

A self-proclaimed Ubisoft insider has revealed in a now-deleted post on 4chan that the next Assassin’s Creed game would be set in the Indian sub-continent. They have also posted a draft map for the game claiming that it would be set in the 17^th century and feature a female protagonist.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has a history of transporting players to exotic locations. So, if this leak turns out to be accurate, then the players would be taken on an adventure set in India and parts of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The insider posted a convincing draft map of the upcoming game, claiming that the map would be larger than Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.

The post mentions that the game might occur during the 17^th century and would likely include locations like the Taj Mahal. Furthermore, it is mentioned that some emphasis will be on the British East India Company and the Dutch East India Company as rival factions.

The post also mentions that there are “no talks of naval gameplay yet.” Moreover, the game would break away from Odyssey and Valhalla’s traditions, as it would have an entirely written female protagonist. The players would not have a choice in choosing the gender of the character they play as.

Another vital piece of information in the post mentions that the game would be exclusive to the new generation consoles, i.e., the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S. Additionally, the developers might bring back the bounty system, with each region having its bounty. Thus, if the player has a bounty in the Mughal Empire, they will not bring it to Dutch-India.

As with any leak, it is crucial to take all this information with a grain of salt. Until we get a confirmation from Ubisoft, it all just remains speculative.
