Marvel’s Spider-Man had brewed up a storm and was seen breaking new records daily. It was followed up by its PC remaster and the DLC-esque title “Miles Morales.”
The upcoming title has been in the works for a while, and the wait is finally over. At the PlayStation Showcase, a nearly 10-minute gameplay footage from the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was revealed. The game is set for a fall 2023 launch.
Kraven the Hunter has also been introduced to the franchise officially. Many fans will remember that he was featured in the announcement trailer of 2021.
The two significant events are the start of Kraven’s Great Hunt and the Symbiote Threat to Earth 1048. Kraven’s Hunters open the gameplay reveal in their search for Dr. Curt Connors, i.e., The Lizard.
Peter and Miles Morales are tasked with stopping the Hunters. The reveal begins at Connor’s Home across the East River in Queens. This is one of the new playable and explorable boroughs introduced to Spider-Man 2.
Right off the bat, Peter is seen demolishing the opponents in his symbiote Blac Suit waiting for a fight. Symbiote tendrils aggrandize Spider-Man’s silhouette making life easier for him and mercilessly slamming Kraven’s Hunters.
The new combat techniques have been introduced with equally immersive graphics. To balance the gameplay, some of the Hunters’ attacks can’t be dodged but need to be parried at the right time.
New takedowns have been introduced. As the blog mentions, the new title will delve deep into the Symbiote’s relationship with Peter and how it affects him.
A near-instant switch to Miles Morales, our other protagonist, was also shown. Speed being of the essence, we see Web Wings and wind tunnels between skylines.
A first glimpse of the all-new dual takedown is also seen. New gadgets, new powers make the gameplay even more intriguing, and there are many combinations to figure out.
These include Web Grabber, allowing enemies to be drawn closer, and the other new gadget, The Thunder Burst, which unleashes an electrifying charge against the enemies. Chain Lightning Ability can also be used on all nearby enemies.
The opportunities, as shown in the mere 10-minute gameplay, are infinite. It leaves players yearning for more. Between Peter’s Symbiotic powers and Miles’ new blue bioelectric powers, we see shared skill trees offering upgrades for both.
Understandably, the gameplay reveal has gripped all fans, and the launch window of Fall 2023 can’t arrive any sooner. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, it is mentioned that the game is on track for the release window.
