Microsoft WILL Invest in New Studios and Games

During an AMA-styled interview in Glitchcon, the all-digital version of Twitchcon, Phil Spencer explained Microsoft’s future plans regarding gaming and how the Game Pass, xCloud, and other services will develop as time passes.

Frankly speaking, Microsoft has really been hitting it out of the park with the Xbox recently.

From the acquisition of Bethesda, the merging of EA Play and Xbox Game Pass, and of course, the highly successful launch of Xbox Series S/X, they’ve genuinely been putting in all the hard work for all of us that love to play video games.

Creating this ecosystem where, if one hasn’t gotten into gaming yet, they can do so without feeling alienated or confused while also making it more and more accessible for the existing gamers is by no means an easy task. And yet Microsoft has been pulling it off flawlessly.

But to truly accomplish their goals, Xbox will most certainly need support from other developers as well, which is precisely what Phil Spencers seems to have in mind at the moment, seeing as how, in the interview as mentioned earlier, he stated that,

“In terms of continuing to invest in new studios and new games and new content, absolutely we have to do that. It’s important that we continue to build out the library of games that are available on Xbox. We’ll double the size of our studios organization when we add Bethesda, and we’re going to continue to invest in great games so that people can find their next favorite game on our platform.”

I’d say that one of their best bets right now would be to invest more in different Japanese Studios, seeing as how their games are really in popular demand and are quite a safe bet in the long run. Square Enix, maybe? Who knows? Maybe we’ll get a Final Fantasy on the Xbox in the near future!

Essentially, what this all means is that the Xbox Game Pass will only become better and better as time passes. In an age where games are becoming more and more expensive, the Game Pass is undoubtedly becoming one of the best media to play video games.
