Grand Theft Auto 5 is easily one of the most popular and most played games in the GTA franchise. It has spanned across three generations of consoles, with a next-gen update slated to release this November.

Given that it is getting the next-gen treatment, fans are guessing it will have the option for ray tracing. Well, you don’t need to wait too long to see what that would look like because modders have already made it happen.

Digital Dreams, a YouTuber, has uploaded an 8K video showing GTA 5 running with numerous mods, all of which aim to make the game look as realistic as possible. So, of course, it includes RTX. This gives us a small peek at what we can expect from the next-gen update to the game.

But, it should be noted that the demo shown in the video is highly demanding on the system, so the console update might not be as high-end. This is also not the first time someone has tried to make GTA 5 as photorealistic as possible.

The YouTuber has QuantV and the Ray Tracing Reshade mods installed. The first updates the game’s graphics while the latter does exactly what the name suggests. However, to get the Ray Tracing Rehsade mod, you will have to subscribe to the creator’s Patreon.

The GTA 5 Real mod is also installed, which adds Pepsi, McDonald’s, KFC, and sports teams like the Lakers to the game. There are also real-life car brands such as Toyota. But don’t expect this to make it to the official next-gen update.

It should go without saying that all of this is currently impossible to emulate on consoles. The next-gen update, coming on 11th November, also brings a standalone Online, like the one with Red Dead Redemption 2. The Online will be free for PlayStation users till February 2022.

While the next-gen update is confirmed, it is unclear whether it will be a free update or not. Many speculate it will be similar to the PS3 to PS4 jump, which was paid, and say that it might cost as much as $70. We’re hoping this isn’t the case as many developers are offering the next-gen update for free, but we’ll know what the plan is as we get closer to November.
